The No Child Left behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) involves both the general education classroom and the special education classroom. Under NCLB, students with disabilities are to be included in the general education classroom. Finally special need children are no longer separated they are included into every classroom, this is called inclusion.  Exceptional education students are now receiving the same instructional assessment as the students in the general education environment.  .

Combining the student is a great idea but it can also be a very difficult task.  In order to make No Child Left Behind Act a success, the teachers must work together.  When focusing on inclusion, the exceptional education teacher must come into the classroom and help with all the students, not just the special needs students.  This may cause problems because there are some students who need more help and attention than others.  The exceptional education teacher can not provide these students with the attention and help they need because under NCLB, they have to help every student in the classroom, without giving more attention to one particular student.  With the exceptional education not being able to spend most of her time with the students who need him or her the most may cause them to act out and most general education teacher may or may not know how to handle the situation properly.  This is very strange and kind of confusing because I thought Exceptional Education student were the ones who need help the most.

No Child Left Behind requires schools to teach all children to proficiency in reading, math, and science by 2014. The key requirements of the law include the following: highly qualified teachers in every classroom, annual proficiency tests in grades 3-8, and state, district, and school report cards.  This is a great idea because what parent does not want the best for his or her child.  I agree that all teachers should be highly qualified because they are the ones who teach students every subject.  When there is a highly qualified teacher, student will learn everything they need to know and will be able to pass every test that is given.  Knowing that a child is highly qualified, parents know that their children are getting the best education given.

When discussing proficiency levels I think that it is a great ambition.  Having student perform on the proficiency level is outstanding because they are so many students performing on lower grade levels.  If I could get my students to perform on their proper grade level would be the best thing a teacher could wish for.  It would make me feel as if I am super hero sent to help all students obtain a great education.

The No Child Left Behind Act is the journey to making every child a success story.  I believe that this is a great law.  It may have some rather awkward components but it is the best law that has been passed based on education.  When this law is fully obtained the public school system education will be one of the best education and more students will be coming back to a free public and appropriate education.
