NOVEMBER

November 3, 2008

Today we tried to finish working on the biomes because they are due on Wednesday.  Mrs. Sargent also talked to us about the days she was out.  She said she could feel tension in the room, but I really was not upset.  I just felt used because you it was your job and she left us with things to do and I was the only one working.  If she left something for all of us to do, that mean everyone must be involved not just me.

At first I felt kind of bad because I told exactly what happen, but when it comes to teaching children, everyone should be on top of their game.  We are all grown and there are no needs for foolishness.  This only taught me that some teachers are here to teach and others are here just for a paycheck.

Today I was late because I had to go vote.  This is a great day.  I was so proud to see so many black people coming out to vote.  Walton Elementary was packed, because it is a voting precinct.  The school was crowded and the children were enjoying all the action.  Today we were allowed to wear hats all day.  For this week was also red ribbon week, I elect to be drug free.  Everyday will be some type of fun day.  The children had on all different types of hats.  I forgot to wear my hat.  Everyone in my class had on a hat but me.

We are also reviewing this week because next week will begin midterm.  It feels like we just took nine-week test last week.  Time has really gone by and in a few more weeks my time here will be up.  I will be sad I already I will because I really enjoy working with these students they are the best and I am really going to miss them.

I did not go today, family emergency.

November 7, 2008

Today we did not test because next week will be testing for midterm.  The weirdest thing happen today, one of my students went home and told his mom that we allowed the students to use his items that his parents sent for the biomes.  This one student is always talking back to me.  I think it is because he remembers me from when I use to do my observation here at Walton Elementary, because he knows that I am student in college and I over heard him telling the other students.  As he was telling them, he kind of said it as if oh she is a student, not a teacher.  So I am thinking that this could be a problem, and if so, why now.  I went to Mrs. Sargent and told her what was going on, at first she did not want to believe it, but she sat down and observed him and sure enough every time I said something to him, he was challenging me.  Finds out he has a sister my age and that’s how he talks to her, and its really causing a problem.  Mrs. Sargent asked did I want to have a conference with his parents and I told her it was up to her and his mom, which it really doesn’t matter to me.

November 10, 2008

Today is the first day of midterm and I have to be proctor for fifth grade.  Fifth grade, to me, is the worst grade.  They do not listen and they do not want to sit down.  They really bother me sometimes, they get on my nerves.  They are going through puberty and they think everything and everyone is against them.  The fifth graders know everything, but really don’t know anything, and this may sound mean, but it’s the truth.  They are also compulsive liars, they lie about everything.  They try to lie there way out of every situation.

The test that was taking was reading.  The test was so simple; some of my students took this test with no problems.  The test only consisted of seventeen questions and it only took thirty minutes to an hour, but when I went back to the other grade level, their test was much more complicated.  It took them three hours to complete their test.  When I looked at the other students’ tests, their reading test was difficult and they were only in the third grade.  I thought they had switched the test.

November 11, 2008

Today we tested on language.  This test was so simple but it took them all day to complete it.  This was due to the fact that they were playing and not focusing.  They were talking about everything but the right thing.  They would not sit down.  One of my students cheated on the whole entire test, she got upset because I moved her away from everyone.  I guess she thought Ms. Key and I were a little slow but we caught onto her game quickly.  She was answering questions without reading them.    When the students became frustrated they began to just guess and mark answers. This really made me furious because they were not focusing nor were they trying.  They fail to realize, they are not hurting me, but they are only hurting their selves.

November 12, 2008

The last day of testing and I am so relieved.  It also took us the entire day to finish.  We did not finish until 11:45 a.m.  The students were starting to become tired, they were also cold.  It was extremely cold in the classroom.  I was shivering, I had to borrow someone’s jackets.  The cold temperature is the reason why I though the children were becoming tired.  We all know that this is a big factor of why.  All setting should be a the proper setting, not to cold and not to hot.
