·         The students will use reference material to determine the meaning, pronounciation, syllabication, synonyms, antonyms, and parts of speech for unknown words.

 

  • (DOK 1 )

 

The teacher will introduce 10 grade appropriate affixes and their meaning by using an overhead transparency and a chart.

 

Students will make similar words of their own using the same affixes and share with the class.

 

Students will be given word cards to match affixes with the correct meaning.

  • The student will identify roots and affixes in words

The student will review affixes and their meaning by reviewing the affix chart.

 

Students will play a game of concentration to match affixes with the correct basewords and give a sentence.

 

Students will play a game of Jeopardy and try and win the most money answering questions relating to affixes.

 

Students will complete independent practice works sheet.
